Early this morning, before the heat is too intense, head to Sigiriya (approximately 30 minutes). This ruined fortress is one of Sri Lanka's premier sights. Those who make it to the top are rewarded with astounding views.
Make sure you are wearing sturdy footwear, as this is a very steep climb with some uneven slopes. Those unable to climb to the top can explore the gardens at the base of the rock and still get some fantastic shots of the fortress from below.
Return to the hotel for breakfast before heading to Kandy (approximately 3 hours). On the way, there's the option of stopping at one of the region's wonderful spice gardens for lunch. In beautifully located Kandy, visit the Dalada Maligawa (aka Temple of the Tooth), Sri Lanka's most important Buddhist site, and mingle with the white-clad pilgrims who come here to worship.

Day 4
Kandy
Today is a free day to explore the royal city of Kandy, a pleasant city surrounded by lush green hilly countryside. It’s home to a picturesque lake, old shops, a bustling market and some great restaurants. It was once the capital of the last Sri Lankan king, and the area managed to resist European control for hundreds of years, long after the coastal areas surrendered. Perhaps walk through the town to take in the sights of Kandy – explore the citadel, or take a nature walk at Udawattakele Sanctuary, close to Kandy, which offers the chance to see flowers, birds and monkeys amid 160 acres of tropical rainforest.
Kandy is perfect for those who enjoy walking – the town has many hidden corners to explore and views from walks around the lake are spectacular. There's also the chance to take a day trip to Nuwara Eliya along windy roads lined by green slopes of tea leaves.
This old British hill station is the heart of the tea growing industry and full of colonial charm. Built entirely during the 19th century, its quirky architecture reflects what you'd normally expect to find in an English country village, which will make you feel like you've stepped back in time.
Accommodation
Oakray regency hotel or similar

Breakfast and Dinner
Day 5
Udawalawe
Journey south in a private vehicle to Udawalawe national park (approximately 6 hours).

Mirissa
Journey south in a private vehicle to Mirissa (approximately 2 hours). This fantastic stretch of beach has plenty of local restaurants and bars to relax in.

We ventured on the trip a few days before the starts of the second wave of COVID-19. however, the hotels and tourist sites are still empty. only a few local travellers can be seen on the way. Very good for local travellers and hotels are giving extremely attractive discounts. Very good Sri Lanka trip with a bit of everything, busy metropolis cities, laid-back countryside, ancient monuments, wildlife parks, pristine forests, hill country and pristine beaches. You get to see a large part of Sri Lanka. Our guide Kusum was excellent, knowledgeable and passionate and bought the experience to life. I highly recommend this itinerary.
Minoli silva– :
Simply Sri Lanka was an amazing trip with a great range of different activities, accommodation and exposure to sociocultural experiences. Even as a sri lankan citizen, I find it very interesting
Elsam Ali– :
Simply Sri Lanka is a great trip for a first time to Sri Lanka! Great itinerary which is a mix between intense city days and chilled days by the sea. A great local organization which gave us a good discount upon hearing that we are foreign diplomats, working in Colombo. Still, not much travellers on the way, even the lockdown restrictions are fully withdrawn.
Pri Ouseph– :
We finished the trip in the first week of march and it was great. You’ll see lots! Make use of free time to do your own thing or travel with your ytravel buddies. Embrace things that do not go as expected. All a part of the experience.
Suman Khan– :
Sigiriya rock fortress is magnificent and Dambulla golden temple is even more interesting with its hundreds of statues and paintings. Nice trip with nature culture and wildlife.

Excellent trip! Well organised! Lots of smiley people and great food! Traveled with the family. Yes the lights cut out for an hour or so. One of the showers took a little getting use to. Prijaz– :
A perfect match for our family. We got a big van with plenty of space for us and our luggage. Our Guide Sam was very helpful and kids friendly, We all enjoyed a lot.
Jennal wu– :
Excellent trip itinerary covering off an introduction to Srilanka. Includes modern cities, ancient monuments, hill country resorts, uncrowded wildlife parks, smaller towns and villages, and several modes of transport, so people feel like they have seen and experienced a good chunk of this tropical nationa. Great stress free way to see the country.
Ludwig rude– :
The company organized the cost-free pick up from our beach on the south coast, otherwise, it could have been an expensive transfer for us. Very interesting trip with a fascinating mix of culture, nature, wildlife and many more.
Binoy Tank– :
This 8 days Sri lanka trip is excellent for those new to Sri Lanka and combines so many different elements of Srilanka in one short week- amazing temples, forts, stupas, and palaces, quiet rural villages, the bumpy ride through the pristine forest of Udawalawe national park and the history of Galle and Kandy as well, with lots of different places to stay (wonderful hotels). Sri Lanka is a place of such contrasts, I felt like we got a glimpse into the real Sri Lanka on this tour, while still taking in the major tourist sites we really couldn’t miss. The food throughout the trip was excellent, we didn’t get sick at all and our personal driver/guide Kusum was funny and very organized. It made travel (on so many types of transport) a breeze. Take hand sanitizer, earplugs, a warm jacket if visiting in winter (Nuwara Eliya quite cold in Jan/ Feb) and a sense of adventure and you’ll have a great time. Our only downside to this trip was the fact we didn’t get to see a leopard at Yala NP, but we did see herds of elephants, crocodiles, monkeys and indian deer, so all is not lost of the tigers are playing hard to find.
Edward– :
A great trip that is jam packed with activities for one week. You see a lot of Sri Lanka in one week and I only wish I was staying here for longer. Be ready to be exhausted at the end of your trip. The tour guides are amazing and you learn so much from them.
Brenda F– :
Seerendipity is a cultural and environmentally friendly company oozing in local knowledge. I’ve travelled alone and with my daughter and love the authenticity of seerendipity.
Olivier obuchowski– :
It is a pity we had only a few hours in Negombo, such a nice beach. However, the overall experience was very good with Rohan (our driver guide).
Gina bass– :
I would highly recommend this trip. Our guide, Kusum was excellent. Most of the days were jam packed if you do all the optional activities but still a little bit of down time towards the end. I felt like we got to experience some of the true culture but also see the important tourist bits. Accommodation was better than expected.
Alisan Bishek– :
Amazingly hospitable people, pity about enhanced security checks but understandable, it won’t sort out political dissent, only debate and discussion may
Edward– :
Good trip
Mahmood abbas– :
Excellent trip with proper planing
Johnson S– :
Great trip with an amazing local guide. Lots of flexibility during the days off, to fit in a day of surfing, shopping or hanging by the hotel. Hotels are basic but clean and safe.
Alaxender kelmens– :
Sri Lanka was amazing. So many locals were excited to see tourists returning and were happy to have us visit. I felt safe the entire time. Beaches, Jungle, Temples, Wildlife, Food this country has everything!

There was a lot of sightseeing but same times we had plenty of time to relax, most importantly the trip was private giving us plenty of room to enjoy.
Silvia somen– :
The wildlife safari was a really nice experience and I never had the opportunity to watch such a large number of a wild elephant in one place. Excellent place and our guide Fernando was very good.
Rasheed Khan– :
The trip was amazingly well organised and included lots of great activities in a short space of time and gave us a great insight into Sri Lanka’s history, wildlife and culture. Supun our tour leader was exceptional his enthusiasm and knowledge was second none!
Shafeeque– :
Just returned from Sri Lanka after Sri Lanka 8 days trip. It was a nice trip and can highly recommend it and Sri Lanka in general… Being a private tour in a comfortable vehicle the trip was very relaxing and had the maximum privacy. Our driver/guide Chamith did a great job showing us the sights. Take some pens for the kids you meet on the trekking days…!
Rianna krestien– :
The very affordable trip we could have aid 2 times more if we booked with a tour operation france.
Ramesh wardan– :
Very interesting trip, most importantly it is a private tour, we had omitted many tourist places and opted to have leisure, fantastic.
Anddre pearson– :
Simply srilanka offers a wonderful opportunity to discover the most important historical places of Sri Lanka and many of them are UNESCO world heritage sites. The places that we visited on this 8 days trip has an amazing mix of cultures and traditions that represent the great variety and complexity of the Srilanka culture. In just 8 days this srilanka trip will take you from the busy streets of old Colombo and on to magnificent sigiriya rock . Moving on travelers will touch waterfalls, tea gardens, mountains, wildlife parks and beaches and wonderful bazaars of Kandy that are especially distinguished for its precious stones….
Farid Rizvi– :
This trips gets you to experience many fascinating things about Sri Lanka and it covers a huge area in Sri Lanka. Be prepared for long drive. Overnight in good hotels with delicious food. Hill clountry train tip is definitely an experience. This trip is not a holiday destination but a way to experience this fascinating country.
Salem fronteddu– :
A very poor trip. We did not feel safe during the ride, it was driven too fast. We were on a family trip with just 5 people, we got a mini-van, which had too small seats. Very exhausting and we got sick. Hotels are except the first hotel, where the room was bit old.

Simply Srilanka was fabulous tour. but the shock of easter bomb attack is still keeping the traevllers away from Sri Lanka. we did not encounter many toruist on the way. The trip has a good mix of mainstream tourist sites and those not so mainstream that made it more authentic. I got to experience things I would not have if I’d tried to self organise this trip. Fortunately we got one of the best driver/guides – excellent vehicle with good air-conditioning and done great accomodation and food. A few long travel days but so worth it.
