Make sure you are wearing sturdy footwear, as this is a very steep climb with some uneven slopes. Those unable to climb to the top can explore the gardens at the base of the rock and still get some fantastic shots of the fortress from below.

Return to the hotel for breakfast before heading to Kandy (approximately 3 hours). On the way, there's the option of stopping at one of the region's wonderful spice gardens for lunch. In beautifully located Kandy, visit the Dalada Maligawa (aka Temple of the Tooth), Sri Lanka's most important Buddhist site, and mingle with the white-clad pilgrims who come here to worship.

Day 4

Kandy

Today is a free day to explore the royal city of Kandy, a pleasant city surrounded by lush green hilly countryside. It’s home to a picturesque lake, old shops, a bustling market and some great restaurants. It was once the capital of the last Sri Lankan king, and the area managed to resist European control for hundreds of years, long after the coastal areas surrendered. Perhaps walk through the town to take in the sights of Kandy – explore the citadel, or take a nature walk at Udawattakele Sanctuary, close to Kandy, which offers the chance to see flowers, birds and monkeys amid 160 acres of tropical rainforest.

Kandy is perfect for those who enjoy walking – the town has many hidden corners to explore and views from walks around the lake are spectacular. There's also the chance to take a day trip to Nuwara Eliya along windy roads lined by green slopes of tea leaves.

This old British hill station is the heart of the tea growing industry and full of colonial charm. Built entirely during the 19th century, its quirky architecture reflects what you'd normally expect to find in an English country village, which will make you feel like you've stepped back in time.

Accommodation

Oakray regency hotel or similar

Meals Included

Breakfast and Dinner

Day 5

Udawalawe

Journey south in a private vehicle to Udawalawe national park (approximately 6 hours).

You will be doing the safari tour in the afternoon and this will be a perfect opportunity to spot a large number of wild elephants and many other wild creatures.

Accommodation

Centuria Wild hotel or similar

Day 6

Mirissa

Journey south in a private vehicle to Mirissa (approximately 2 hours). This fantastic stretch of beach has plenty of local restaurants and bars to relax in.

...................End of the simply Sri Lanka tour........................

  1. :

We ventured on the trip a few days before the starts of the second wave of COVID-19. however, the hotels and tourist sites are still empty. only a few local travellers can be seen on the way. Very good for local travellers and hotels are giving extremely attractive discounts. Very good Sri Lanka trip with a bit of everything, busy metropolis cities, laid-back countryside, ancient monuments, wildlife parks, pristine forests, hill country and pristine beaches. You get to see a large part of Sri Lanka. Our guide Kusum was excellent, knowledgeable and passionate and bought the experience to life. I highly recommend this itinerary.

  2. :

Simply Sri Lanka was an amazing trip with a great range of different activities, accommodation and exposure to sociocultural experiences. Even as a sri lankan citizen, I find it very interesting

  3. :

Simply Sri Lanka is a great trip for a first time to Sri Lanka! Great itinerary which is a mix between intense city days and chilled days by the sea. A great local organization which gave us a good discount upon hearing that we are foreign diplomats, working in Colombo. Still, not much travellers on the way, even the lockdown restrictions are fully withdrawn.

  4. :

We finished the trip in the first week of march and it was great. You’ll see lots! Make use of free time to do your own thing or travel with your ytravel buddies. Embrace things that do not go as expected. All a part of the experience.

  5. :

Sigiriya rock fortress is magnificent and Dambulla golden temple is even more interesting with its hundreds of statues and paintings. Nice trip with nature culture and wildlife.

  6. :

Perfect trip for a first-timer with an excellent blend of nature, culture, wildlife and much much more. Guide Raman was very good and excellent knowledge guy.

  7. :

This 8 days srilanka tour was an experience of a life time, hectic and relaxing it has it all, cultural, historical, natural and architectural highlights abound. Gamini, our tour guide/driver , looked after us with style and respect and his knowledge and love of the local customs and environment was infectious. Thank you for providing this great opportunity.

  8. :

Our Guide Malan was a very knowledgeable guide on culture and history everything explained very well. Overall the trip was excellent with comfortable vehicle, hotels and good food.

  9. :

Very good tour, highly knowledgeable guide, very friendly

  10. :

A fantastic Sri Lanka trip with many thrilling activities such as trekking, hiking, visiting museums, beaches, historical monuments, wildlife parks too much to see within a week. Well invested 8 days. Service is perfect and very friendly service. Most importantly sam our guide was very knowledgable and caring.

  11. :

This 8 days Sri Lanka is a complete snapshot of Sri Lanka, it provided a great first experience of Srilanka for our family and we’re lucky to have a great driver/guide, who is very attentive to us most importantly ot our small kids.

  12. :

Excellent service and very nice driver/guide. Kids loved the trip and it had plenty of time for leisure apart from the sightseeing.

  13. :

Excellent trip! Well organised! Lots of smiley people and great food! Traveled with the family. Yes the lights cut out for an hour or so. One of the showers took a little getting use to. But didn’t spoil the trip in any way All part of of the journey. Local tour guide saman was excellent! Great trip!

  14. :

Seerendipity is an amazing, professional & inspiring local travel company. It was super easy to book the trip with them. Our driver/guide Kusum , took the greatest care & interest in our family, showing us all the delights of Sri lanka, taking care of our safety & welfare & making the whole experience AMAZING!

  15. :

Everything was perfect and happening the way we wanted to have because it was a private tour. Very nice trip with good and very experienced driver-guide.

  16. :

A perfect match for our family. We got a big van with plenty of space for us and our luggage. Our Guide Sam was very helpful and kids friendly, We all enjoyed a lot.

  17. :

Excellent trip itinerary covering off an introduction to Srilanka. Includes modern cities, ancient monuments, hill country resorts, uncrowded wildlife parks, smaller towns and villages, and several modes of transport, so people feel like they have seen and experienced a good chunk of this tropical nationa. Great stress free way to see the country.

  18. :

The company organized the cost-free pick up from our beach on the south coast, otherwise, it could have been an expensive transfer for us. Very interesting trip with a fascinating mix of culture, nature, wildlife and many more.

  19. :

This 8 days Sri lanka trip is excellent for those new to Sri Lanka and combines so many different elements of Srilanka in one short week- amazing temples, forts, stupas, and palaces, quiet rural villages, the bumpy ride through the pristine forest of Udawalawe national park and the history of Galle and Kandy as well, with lots of different places to stay (wonderful hotels). Sri Lanka is a place of such contrasts, I felt like we got a glimpse into the real Sri Lanka on this tour, while still taking in the major tourist sites we really couldn’t miss. The food throughout the trip was excellent, we didn’t get sick at all and our personal driver/guide Kusum was funny and very organized. It made travel (on so many types of transport) a breeze. Take hand sanitizer, earplugs, a warm jacket if visiting in winter (Nuwara Eliya quite cold in Jan/ Feb) and a sense of adventure and you’ll have a great time. Our only downside to this trip was the fact we didn’t get to see a leopard at Yala NP, but we did see herds of elephants, crocodiles, monkeys and indian deer, so all is not lost of the tigers are playing hard to find.

  20. :

A great trip that is jam packed with activities for one week. You see a lot of Sri Lanka in one week and I only wish I was staying here for longer. Be ready to be exhausted at the end of your trip. The tour guides are amazing and you learn so much from them.

  21. :

Seerendipity is a cultural and environmentally friendly company oozing in local knowledge. I’ve travelled alone and with my daughter and love the authenticity of seerendipity.

  22. :

It is a pity we had only a few hours in Negombo, such a nice beach. However, the overall experience was very good with Rohan (our driver guide).

  23. :

I would highly recommend this trip. Our guide, Kusum was excellent. Most of the days were jam packed if you do all the optional activities but still a little bit of down time towards the end. I felt like we got to experience some of the true culture but also see the important tourist bits. Accommodation was better than expected.

  24. :

Amazingly hospitable people, pity about enhanced security checks but understandable, it won’t sort out political dissent, only debate and discussion may

  25. :

    Good trip

  26. :

    Excellent trip with proper planing

  27. :

Great trip with an amazing local guide. Lots of flexibility during the days off, to fit in a day of surfing, shopping or hanging by the hotel. Hotels are basic but clean and safe.

  28. :

Sri Lanka was amazing. So many locals were excited to see tourists returning and were happy to have us visit. I felt safe the entire time. Beaches, Jungle, Temples, Wildlife, Food this country has everything!

  29. :

There was a lot of sightseeing but same times we had plenty of time to relax, most importantly the trip was private giving us plenty of room to enjoy.

  30. :

The wildlife safari was a really nice experience and I never had the opportunity to watch such a large number of a wild elephant in one place. Excellent place and our guide Fernando was very good.

  31. :

The trip was amazingly well organised and included lots of great activities in a short space of time and gave us a great insight into Sri Lanka’s history, wildlife and culture. Supun our tour leader was exceptional his enthusiasm and knowledge was second none!

  32. :

Just returned from Sri Lanka after Sri Lanka 8 days trip. It was a nice trip and can highly recommend it and Sri Lanka in general… Being a private tour in a comfortable vehicle the trip was very relaxing and had the maximum privacy. Our driver/guide Chamith did a great job showing us the sights. Take some pens for the kids you meet on the trekking days…!

  33. :

The very affordable trip we could have aid 2 times more if we booked with a tour operation france.

  34. :

Very interesting trip, most importantly it is a private tour, we had omitted many tourist places and opted to have leisure, fantastic.

  35. :

Simply srilanka offers a wonderful opportunity to discover the most important historical places of Sri Lanka and many of them are UNESCO world heritage sites. The places that we visited on this 8 days trip has an amazing mix of cultures and traditions that represent the great variety and complexity of the Srilanka culture. In just 8 days this srilanka trip will take you from the busy streets of old Colombo and on to magnificent sigiriya rock . Moving on travelers will touch waterfalls, tea gardens, mountains, wildlife parks and beaches and wonderful bazaars of Kandy that are especially distinguished for its precious stones….

  36. :

This trips gets you to experience many fascinating things about Sri Lanka and it covers a huge area in Sri Lanka. Be prepared for long drive. Overnight in good hotels with delicious food. Hill clountry train tip is definitely an experience. This trip is not a holiday destination but a way to experience this fascinating country.

  37. :

A very poor trip. We did not feel safe during the ride, it was driven too fast. We were on a family trip with just 5 people, we got a mini-van, which had too small seats. Very exhausting and we got sick. Hotels are except the first hotel, where the room was bit old.

  38. :

Very interesting trip and it feels like someone had stolen our time because we did not even feel that we have spent 8 days in Sri Lanka.

  39. :

    Very happy with the trip

  40. :

Very balanced Sri Lanka tour with lots of things to see and do, with plenty of down time to recover. Our driver/guide silva was verry knowledgeable, approachable and fun.

  41. :

Very interesting tour program with many interesting places such as temples, wildlife, nature and culture.

  42. :

This was our first trip to Srilanka and simply srilanka was brilliant we saw many fascinating things and our driver/guide Kamal ensured we experienced true srilanka , we felt safe on all occasions making sure we dined at places that were clean and good value.

  43. :

Each day it was difficult to see how they could keep the standard up, it was excellent. A varied insight into cultural triangle, hill country, beachess…the list goes on, local life and transport as well as the iconic sights and experiences. All aided by an excellent driver/guide.

  44. :

Good trip and lots to see. Lots of free time though. Good accommodation with delicious food . wildlife safari, boat tour and the cooking lesson were the highlights

  45. :

Sri Lanka is not to be missed. The sights are incredible, the food is amazing and the people of Sri Lanka are so kind! One of the best and most interesting trips I’ve been on.

  46. :

    Very good trip

  47. :

If doing simply Sri lanka, you better look another Sri lanka trip. This tour doesn’t do justice to what can be seen and enjoyed in ancient cities in Sri lanka like Sgiriya.

  48. :

We had an amazing time. Loved the trekking, walking, jeep safari and exploring ancient monuments. Our tour guide, Roshan, really went the extra mile with everything, even organising a surprise birthday party at teh hotel for my husband,- with cake, balloons and fireworks!

  49. :

We had already travelled to the east coast a few years back, therefore we opted to this south coast trip with hill country. very nice experience I feel this time trip is better than the earlier occasion.

  50. :

We have just returned after simply Sri Lanka tour ( Departure: 02.02.2020). Our expectation was to discover and enjoy some of the history, culture and lots of local colour of Sri Lanka while having some peaceful time on the beach and we were not let down at all….

  51. :

Had a great time and loved learning all the history, culture, wildlife, and beautiful hill country of Sri Lanka. Our personal driver/guide Silva was fantastic and made our trip memorable. Interaction with the locals and the cooking lesson immersed you into the daily lives of the people. A good choice.

  52. :

Highly recommend Sri Lanak itinerary – An exceptional fun packed holiday with lots of adventures and activities, Exceptional driver/guide (Sam).

  53. :

Very good planning and our guide Sam was a very knowledgeable and experienced guy. The tour was very interesting.

  54. :

Can definitely recommend this trip to anyone considering travelling to Sri Lanka. With an amazing local guide you get to experience everything this amazing country has to offer from culture, to landscapes, history and religion.. oh and the food!!!!!!!!!!!! RICE & CURRY

  55. :

Sri Lanka, So much history and such a beautiful and fun place to visit. The people are wonderful and we never once felt unsafe or uneasy about what we were doing.

  56. :

Amazing Sri Lanka trip with my family members. Excellent tour guide/driver. Jaya went above and beyond the call of duty, organizing things for us to do even on his day off. You will not be disappointed. Great food, great sights. Amazing.

  57. :

this is a very well organised tour with Malan with plenty of fun and laughter along the way

  58. :

This 8 days trip was a wonderful introduction to Sri Lanka. Colour, experiences, excitingly pace of traffic giving you a (safe) thrill! Great informative guide (Malan) and being a private tour everything is happening to your wish.

  59. :

Simply srilanka tour was a well paced and excellent overview of all major aspects of Sri Lanka. A good balance of modern srilankan life and historical aspects was achieved without being too touristy. Very good guide with excellent driving.

  60. :

The simply Srilanka trip was the perfect way to start to get to know this tropical island. Our guide (he was also driving the car) Sachi, was knowledgeable, super organised and great fun making the whole experience special. I would recommend this trip wholeheartedly – if you are unsure – Just do it!

  61. :

A great itinerary for those who have a relatively short time but want to see most of the Sri Lanka.

  62. :

A very well organized trip, good food, comfortable vehicle, nice hotels, the tour worth every penny.

  63. :

First time with Seerendipity and it was a truly memorable trip. Excellent service and good price. Great driver/guide and a mix of inclusions, activities, and experiences hard to find elsewhere.

  64. :

Simply Sri Lanka is a great itinerary for those who have a relatively short time but want to see the most of the country. It is tiring (particularly first half) but it is worth it. Our guide, Sam, was amazing. I always felt safe through the trip and cannot recommend highly enough.

  65. :

Simply Sri Lanka tour was an amazing overview of a beautiful country, Sri Lanka. If you are lucky enough to have our tour leader Silva you will leave Sri Lanka with a myriad of knowledge on their history and culture……… Enjoy

  66. :

Many thanks to the Seerendipity team for our wonderfully enjoyable and informative Sri Lanka Tour. We really got to engage with the locals thanks to our fantastic guide whose knowledge and passion for promoting his country and sharing its wonders was inspiring. Our MANY meals of rice with curries was amazing and even the accommodation which was, at times, a little up and down it was certainly value for money!. I would highly recommend this trip to many others especially those with reasonable fitness and a search for adventure!

  67. :

Having never done a trip in SrrLanka before, we didn’t have an idea what to expect. Our trip from Colombo-cultural triangle-hill country-south SriLanka has been fantastic. We would highly recommend this trip.

  68. :

Simply Srilanka was fabulous tour. but the shock of easter bomb attack is still keeping the traevllers away from Sri Lanka. we did not encounter many toruist on the way. The trip has a good mix of mainstream tourist sites and those not so mainstream that made it more authentic. I got to experience things I would not have if I’d tried to self organise this trip. Fortunately we got one of the best driver/guides – excellent vehicle with good air-conditioning and done great accomodation and food. A few long travel days but so worth it.

  69. :

Visiting Sri Lanka was a great experience and meaningful for me. Thanks to an excellent guide, Kusum, the trip was safe and memorable.

  70. :

This Sri Lanka trip was a little disappointing, some places mentioned in the itinerray were far to reach just to sleep there, the accommodation were beyond basic and good food, and service. Very comfortable vehicle with the well knowledgeable driver/guide.

  71. :

High recommend this trip. Everything about it was amazing. It is the perfect trip to see the highlights of Sri Lanka!

  72. :

I just wanted to get a ‘taste’ of Srilanka, but after this 8 days trip I want to know and see more about this amazing country. I haven’t seen anything like it anywhere else. The trip was organized perfectly. Thank you.

  73. :

The simply srilanka trip will give you a wonderful flavour of this tropical island. We enjoyed visiting cities, staying luxurious hotels, admiring beautiful architecture and learning more about srilanka’s fascinating history, culture and it’s people. Everything was organised to perfection so that we could see things that you couldn’t easily organise independently.

  74. :

Excellent private trip with only me and my husband. Hotels are very good and offerede delicious food. Our driver/guide Shan has brilliant communication skills with exceptional knowledge regarding the srilanka culture and areas visited

  75. :

  77. :

The 8 days tour was good, we really enjoyed srilanka. The food and lodging was a huge standout. A few less ancient monuments and maybe a few more activities together with more time on the beach would have improved the tour.

  78. :

A great way to experience the food, the colour, the craziness and beauty of srilanka! If you like to travel with an open mind and love to experience a completely different culture then I cannot recommend this tour enough!

  79. :

Incredibly well-organized and executed Sri lanka trip. Fast-paced, but a good balance of planned activities and free time. most importantly the beach stay was fantastic. The accommodations are perfectly comfortable for westerners. Our driver/guide Thusha is a rock star.
